Transfer of Unpaid Dividend to IEPF
All companies. Unpaid / unclaimed dividend remaining unpaid for 7 years must be transferred to the IEPF. Corresponding shares of investors who have not claimed dividends for 7 consecutive years must also be transferred.
Rewarding shareholders is simple in theory, and easy to get wrong in practice. Section 124(1)-(6) decides what's actually allowed. The practical effect: unpaid/unclaimed dividend after 30 days - transfer to Unpaid Dividend Account within 7 days. Fi CTC Generator gets you there in under 3 minutes — correctly, the first time.
Form IEPF-1 must be filed with the IEPF Authority within 30 days of transfer. Intimation to shareholders must be sent before transfer. Shares must be transferred within 30 days of the amount becoming due for transfer.
